Work – How would you define it?
Everyone has their own definition about “Work”. For some, it is their daily routine that help them earn their bread. For some, it is their assigned task or planned business goals to achieve. For some, it is anything for which they are paid. Let me try and describe what really work is in my opinion.
WORK is any activity that you do to build your skills, any activity that helps you grow, any activity that helps you develop yourself, any activity that helps you build your character. Work is an activity in which you put your effort and receive an output from it. The output may not necessarily be positive or as expected all the time. However, there is an output to it. The output may be a feeling of satisfaction or weariness, the output may be monetary gain or the output may be achievements or disappointments.
The feeling of unwillingness to work
Everyone needs some motivation to work. It may be materialistic or abstract – Money or outcomes. However, these days we are growing increasingly weak to put effort in what one does. The main reason is continuous lack of motivation, continuous feeling of insecurity, continuous feeling of ending up in misery. This article discusses the same feeling of unwillingness and explains why you should always put in the maximum or the best effort in what you do. It conveys 3 very simple reasons for always putting in your best effort in whatever you do.
Reasons to put in maximum effort
1. You are learning
No matter what you do, no matter how you do it, you are always learning something from what you do. The work you do may not always teach you what you wish to learn but it is always important to remember that anything you learn is never wasted. Every activity has its own learning. For instance, I am writing this article with no intention of monetary gains. However, I still would learn from people who read this. I would learn how people think about it and what effect these words have on people.
2. You are building your reputation
Reputation is always associated with the work you do. It reflects your attitude, it reflects your enthusiasm, it reflects your abilities. You work helps you build your own reputation in front of people you work with. It helps you create a positive image of yours. If you work with a bad attitude, work with the feeling of unwillingness, it ultimately blemishes your own image.
3. You are building your character
You are building your own mindset, your own way of life by the way you do work. The way you work reflects directly on your personal life and your character. A person working happily and putting in the right effort will never be complaining about the way his/her life is going. They’ll always put in effort to make it better. Your character would not just affect you, it will highly affect your near and dear ones, your family.
These are the simple things that I wanted to explain. Here’s a beautiful video explaining the same concept in a better way.
